Quantum Reduction the Ultimate Outcome of Decoherence ?

چکیده
Whereas decoherence has been much studied theoretically, little attention was given to the difference between the full quantum density matrix and the decoherent one. Although inaccessible to experiment, it never vanishes and keeps in principle a phase memory of everything in the past. Its investigation is applied here to the influence of the external universe on a macroscopically isolated system, showing the possibility that it could generate changes in quantum probabilities. When this result is combined with previous work on Brownian reduction, it suggests a conceivable though far-fetched reduction effect, which would result directly from the basic principles of quantum mechanics. The main non-speculative conclusion is however that the inaccessible part of the state of the universe stands as the main open question in

Decoherence effects on quantum Fisher information of multi-qubit W states
Quantum fisher information of a parameter characterizing the sensitivity of a state with respect to parameter changes. In this paper, we study the quantum fisher information of the W state for four, five, six and seven particles in decoherence channels, such as amplitude damping, phase damping and depolarizing channel. Using Krauss operators for decoherence channels components, we investigate t...
متن کاملTeleportation via an Entangled Coherent Channel and Decoherence Effect on This Channel
We study an entangled two-mode coherent state within the framework of2×2-dimensional Hilbert space. We investigate the problem of quantum teleportation ofa superposition coherent state via an entangled coherent channel. By three differentmeasures with the titles ``minimum assured fidelity (MASF)”, ``average teleportationfidelity” and ``optimal fidelity (f)” we study the ...
متن کاملEmergent measure-dependent probabilities from modified quantum dynamics without state-vector reduction
Counting outcomes is the obvious algorithm for generating probabilities in quantum mechanics without state-vector reduction (i.e. many-worlds). This procedure has usually been rejected because for purely linear dynamics it gives results in disagreement with experiment. Here it is shown that if non-linear decoherence effects (previously proposed by other authors) are combined with an exponential...
متن کاملThe Measurement Problem: Decoherence and Convivial Solipsism
The problem of measurement is often considered as an inconsistency inside the quantum formalism. Many attempts to solve (or to dissolve) it have been made since the inception of quantum mechanics. The form of these attempts depends on the philosophical position that their authors endorse. I will review some of them and analyze their relevance. The phenomenon of decoherence is often presented as...
متن کاملQuantum Indeterminism and First Passage Random Walks in Hilbert Space
We propose a conceptually very simple new model for measurement of any characteristic of a microscopic quantum state by a large system that selects stochastically the different eigenstates with appropriate quantum weights. Unlike previous works which formulate specific changes in usual quantum mechanics such as a modified Schrödinger equation, or an explicit modified Hamiltonian, or more compli...
